I was up at the Long Beach Comic and Horror Con this past weekend and had a great time. I met Brendan Creecy and Phil Vecchio the guys behind the web comic; Brax the Alien Rocker. Both of them were very nice, friendly guys more than willing to help other web comics and creators. If you’ve haven’t checked out their web comic it’s a lot of fun about Brax an aspiring musician from another planet and his crew! Checkout Brax here; http://braxcomics.com/
I also came across a really awesome book titled; Legends of Log by D.L. Suharski also really nice guy and his book was probably one of my favorites. It’s about a giant Log in the North Woods that basically Battles all types of beasts and other enemies. Check it out here; http://www.legendsoflog.com/
Patrick Sculling was another cool creator that introduced himself to us. His web comic Super Siblings is also very good and a lot of fun to follow especially if you have kids yourself (like me) and enjoy comic books. Checkout Super Siblings here; http://www.supersiblingscomics.com/
I was also able to meet up with my mentor / teacher Josef Rubinstein. I’ve been studying, illustration and comic book inking under Joe for about a year and a half now and feel so fortunate to have learned as much as I have from him. Earlier in the day I was able to sit behind Joe for about an hour and just watch him ink. He was re-creating the cover for the Amazing Spiderman #202 this cover features one of the earlier appearances of the Punisher. Later on in the day I attended a 2 hour workshop on Comic Book Inking with Joe this is the 3rd time I’ve attended this workshop and I learn something new every time!
